We are pleased to have expanded the Mental Health arm of Northpark Private Hospital
This month we warmly welcomed our first patients into our beautiful new spaces in the following new areas:
- Adult mental health unit,
- Dedicated Older persons' mental health unit,
- Two new Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatment rooms and
- Gymnasium.
Our easy to access service, new and renovated facilities complement the excellent, long-standing care that our friendly and experienced staff and doctors offer support to patients, navigating them through life's trying times.

Healthcare expansion in Melbourne’s northern suburbs

Melbourne’s northern suburbs will have even better access to healthcare from early 2024 with the reopening of La Trobe Private Hospital and redevelopment of Northpark Private.
The Northpark redevelopment includes expanded mental health services with brand new facilities. including additional mental health beds, a dedicated older persons’ mental health unit, expanded TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) service and more.
Northpark’s longstanding maternity service, and mother and baby unit will continue to operate at Northpark, alongside five operating theatres and a 20-bed surgical ward which will focus on women’s health, oral and maxillofacial, ophthalmology, ear, nose and throat (ENT) and endoscopy procedures.
A refurbished La Trobe Private will reopen with four integrated operating theatres, a robotic surgical assistant (ROSA) for specialised orthopedic surgery, 30 inpatient beds and capacity to open a new four-bed high dependency unit.
The La Trobe hospital will support a range of clinical specialties, focusing on orthopaedics, general surgery, plastic surgery and urology. The redevelopment will also include a new café, with onsite pathology and radiology services as well as 22 specialist doctor consulting suites. La Trobe Private Hospital is located on the La Trobe University Bundoora campus and the hospital will partner with the university on research projects and student placement programs.

Northpark Private Hospital is well known as one of the leading private hospitals in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Situated in leafy Bundoora, our patients are locals and those travelling from the outer suburbs of Melbourne and regional Victoria.
The 99-bed hospital provides a broad range of care including surgical, medical, and mental health services. Northpark Private also has a long and proud history as a premier maternity facility, having delivered many local babies and subsequently their families over the years. Northpark’s maternity service also includes a well-respected Early Parenting Unit.
La Trobe Private Hospital will reopen in early 2024 as a 34-bed hospital with a focus on orthopaedics, general surgery, plastic surgery and urology. The hospital is located on the La Trobe University campus in Bundoora, adjacent to Plenty Road and public transport.
Northpark Private announces expansion
Northpark Private Hospital is undergoing a significant renovation and when completed ,will provide 73 mental health beds to the local community including our Early Parenting Unit.
We are investing in brand new mental health facilities for our patients, with the addition of:
- 22 additional mental health beds
- 10 bed Older Persons’ Unit with lounge and dining areas
- 12 new adult patient rooms - A large new courtyard and extensive refurbishment of the existing courtyard with increased activity area
- New TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) suite
