When you choose private, you get to choose your own paediatrician. If you haven’t one already, speak to your obstetrician and ask for a referral.

Paediatricians don’t routinely attend vaginal births unless requested, however they do attend elective and emergency Caesarean section births. In some cases, they attend delivery of multiple births, premature babies and breech deliveries. If your baby needs extra care and support they may be admitted to the Special Care Nursery.

Regardless of the obstetrician you choose, at Northpark Private Maternity we offer an on-call paediatrician to provide emergency cover, as needed 24-hours.

You’ll receive a separate invoice for your paediatrician, which usually includes an out-of-pocket gap cost.
